Funplex Myrtle Beach Closes Permanently

Another Myrtle Beach amusement park has come and gone, as Funplex Myrtle Beach has officially closed its doors for good.

The 18,000 square foot “Micro Park” opened in 2021, and featured seven rides along with an in-park restaurant.

“Since 2021, The Funplex Myrtle Beach has been a place of thrills, laughter, and unforgettable memories. We are incredibly proud of the community we have built together and the countless smiles we have shared,” the park wrote on its website. “It is with a heavy heart that we are leaving Myrtle Beach. The Funplex will continue to operate its two parks in Mount Laurel and East Hanover New Jersey. We hope if you are in the area you will still enjoy our parks up there. Thank you once again for being a part of our Funplex family. We cherish the memories we have created together.”

Along with the “Fun in the Sun” Coaster – the park had six additional rides. Up & Overboard (SBF-Visa Space Gun), Sky Velocity (SBF-Visa Drop-n-Twist), Hook & Slice (SBF-Visa Reverse Time), Hang 10 Silly Cups (SBF-Visa Cups) and the Sunny Day Swing (SBF-Visa Toy Swing), and Mach Fun (SBF-Visa Tower Planes), a first-of-its kind ride in North America. Each ride had a unique lighting package that would sync together for a nightly light show at The Funplex.

During our visit in 2021, we took a quick trip around the park and profiled it as part of our “Small Park Showcase” series.
