Tonight the Anaheim city council gave unanimous final approval on DisneylandForward, the future plan for the Disneyland Resort that Disney shared back in 2021. Disneyland President Ken Potrock shared the news on the Disney Parks Blog, along with details about the agreement with the city and about the plans.
If you’ve forgotten, the DisneylandForward plan shared concept art for a new park lands next to the Disneyland Hotel, one connected to Disneyland and one connected to Disney California Adventure. They also showed a potential entertainment area where the current Toy Story Parking is.
At the time they discussed possibilities like Tangled or Peter Pan. They’ve also talked about bringing lands that exist overseas, like Zootopia from Shanghai or Frozen from Hong Kong, to Disneyland. Or bringing over attractions from Orlando, like Toy Story Land or Tron.

The latest update still discusses these ideas all as just “possibilities” (it’s even what the web page is called), but in the blog post Potrock does say they’ll “be investing at least $1.9 billon in the resort in the first 10 years.” For reference, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge reportedly cost about $1 billion. So this seems like enough for at minimum a new land or two in the next decade. And it sounds like part of the approval is based on this $1.9 billion commitment.
It’s important to remember in this day and age that these are just concepts and ideas, and everything is subject to change. But, with the approval, there shouldn’t be anything standing in the way from Disney moving ahead with these plans if they want to, and the commitment to invest is real.
